  ACT-SO is a major youth initiative of the NAACP to recognize high academics and artistic achievement among African American Students. For details see Ms. Tammy Mayo-Blake Apply by February 26, 2009.

• · Winter Conditioning for Softball will start tomorrow, Tuesday Jan 6th after school. Please meet in the PE Hallway by no later than 2:25.
• · Dreamgirls : Remember auditions will be tomorrow from 3:30- 6:30 in the auditorium.
• · Attention Northwest Forensics Team Members: The next forensics competition is January 10th at Blake High School. You need to register for this meet by this Tuesday at lunch by either emailing Miss MacNemar or registering in person in room 219.
• · The Gates Millennium Scholars Program applications must be submitted by January 12; Montgomery College Scholarships for the Scholars Program and the Macklin Business Program are due by January 23. The Discover Scholarship Program for juniors – applications must be submitted online by January 31.
• · Northwest Hispanic Freshmen, Sophomores, & Juniors are invited to apply for the 2009 Maryland Hispanic Youth Symposium. Spend 4 days and 3 nights on a college campus. Participate in college admissions, financial aid and career planning workshops. Compete for up to $14,000 in scholarships. Details are in the College/Career Information Center. The application process starts NOW! Visit the College/Career Information Center during lunch or after school and watch JAG TV for the latest college & career planning opportunities.
