TAKE THE ASVAB AT Northwest ON MARCH 11. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career. The test will be offered at Northwest on March 11 in the College/Career Information Center at no cost to students and at no obligation to the military. BECOME A WHITE HOUSE PAGE. Pages are young people who are hired to serve as support staff for the U. S. House of Representatives. They are students in their junior year of high school, who come to Washington, DC to live, work, and study as Pages. Eligibility requires a 3.0 GPA, a high school junior at least 16 years of age. Applicants will be asked to provide a Social Security Number, Parental consent form, official high school transcript, written essay, resume & letters of recommendation. FILE YOUR FINANCIAL AID FORMS EARLY! FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Online. Beware of SCAMS. Filing the FAFSA is FREE. For federal aid, submit your application as early as possible. Applications must be received no later than June 30, 2010. Students should be aware of their college financial aid deadlines. Some Maryland schools require the FAFSA be submitted as early as February 15 but no later than March 1. Electronic submission of the FAFSA requires an electronic signature or PIN. High School college visits: Students are able to meet with representatives from colleges, vocational schools, the military, and various career fields. Students sign up for these visits in the center before school, during lunch or after school and must have teacher permission to attend. Visits run daily on JAG TV and are also available to seniors registered with Family Connection.

Students have access to print material such as college catalogs, view books, applications and career catalog and reference material. Students may use the computers for college, interest inventories, career, and scholarship searches.
