CollegeExpos College Fair field trip on Tuesday, October 20. 9:30 am to 11:30 am. FREE. Buses filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Permission forms will be distributed through Counselor Presentations to Seniors beginning October 6. Permission forms will also be available in the College/Career Information Center after Tuesday, October 6. Permission forms must be returned to the College/Career Information Center no later than October 14. For information on participating colleges visit www.collegeexpos.com. NWHS field trip event is for SENIORS. Students should plan to bring lunch on the day of the event. HOBY (Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership) – open to SOPHOMORES ONLY; one NWHS student selected; HOBY is a one-week leadership seminar held in the spring of each year at a local college or university campus. One student is chosen from each high school. Registration fees are at no cost to the student. This is an exciting opportunity for students to join student leaders from all over the state of Maryland to discuss leadership issues such as motivation, ethics, volunteerism, education and the media; for additional program information visit www.hoby.org; DEADLINE TO APPLY – NOVEMBER 6, 2009. 2010 Maryland General Assembly Student Page Program.
Selected high school seniors, who attend public or nonpublic schools within the State of Maryland, will be given the opportunity to participate as pages for members of the Maryland General Assembly during the 2009 session. The program is designed to: - Interest youth in state government, more specifically, in the proceedings of the legislature;
- Increase participation in government and foster leadership among youth; and
- Provide students with worthwhile experiences in state government, especially the legislature.
